Spring Roundup: Wyoming Football

The last of the bunch is the Wyoming Cowboys spring analysis. Wyoming had one of the best defenses in the league and in the country and allowed only one player all year rush for over 100 yards.   The Cowboys spring game concluded over the past weekend and turnovers which was a problem all year was limited to one interception overall.  The Cowboys worked on limiting turnovers which was a problem when Wyoming played against good teams last year.  Quarterback still could be an issue, because Karsten Sween struggled in the second half of last year, but still looks to be the opening day starter against Ohio.

The Cowboys saw much improvement in their running game with Devin Moore who is back at Wyoming and he rushed for 72 yards in the spring game, and then include Wynel Seldon and the Pokes look to have a good running attack.  Also, Wyoming seems to have found a go to receiver, which is something they lacked last year and the leading man looks to be between Tight End Jesson Salyords and then WR Darrion Donnelly.  These two players should help out with the passing game.

One last thing that Wyoming needs to do, well it is something that can not be taught in spring and that is not fading late in the year.  Not sure if it’s fatigue, or experience but finishing strong is key for this team to improve.
