Here is the latest news for each game this weekend.
Charlie Weiss is concerned and not sure what to expect from San Diego State’s deffensive line with all their injuries. This is from the San Diego Union Tribune.
It’s not that Weis is feeling a twinge of compassion for Aztecs coach Chuck Long, who already has lost three defensive linemen for the season and has at least four others nursing injuries.
It’s just that Weis isn’t sure what to expect from the Aztecs (0-1) defensively in Notre Dame’s season opener on Saturday.
Utes have more to worry about then just Frank Summers later today. Salt Lake Tribune Utah blog
With all the press Frank Summers has received after his performance against the Utes last year one would think he was the Rebels’ only offensive weapon. But they have others, and one the Utes want to keep under wraps is junior receiver Ryan Wolfe. Wolfe had seven catches for 103 yards in the win against Utah State.
The Seattle Times reports that Washington will have success against BYU’s defensive front.
Feeling the most heat is the veteran offensive line, which couldn’t mount a consistent push to lead much of a running attack last week, causing the offense to fall apart. The Huskies are confident of more success in that area this week against a BYU defense replacing eight starters from last year.
The Houston Chronicle quotes Mike Sherman about how the Texas A&M is a must win against the Lobos
“We’ve got to get it done, you know,” Sherman said. “We’re in a time and age where that’s expected to happen immediately.”
Progress is a must and so is winning a potentially tough game on the road this afternoon, against another perceived weaker conference (Mountain West) program.
