This was closer then expected in this matchup between these two services academies. Neither team played great offensively Army had three turnovers and Air Force was held to under 200 yards rushing the ball well below their season average.
Air Force had trouble getting touchdowns but the three field goals the Falcons settled for was the difference they needed to defeat fellow service Academy.
Army wanted to help Air Force win by a bigger margin with those three turnovers but the Falcons for some reason could not move the ball against a sub par Black Knight defense. Going 1-13 on third down does not help any team to score points, that is the main reason that Air Force did not get more points.
The game between two of the worst offenses in the nation did not live up to the potential 3-0 victory, instead Wyoming showed up to score 38 points which was the most of the year for them. Devin Moore ran for 234 yards and scored three touchdowns as Wyoming broke a five-game losing streak.
The reason Moore had such a good game is because Wyoming threw a curve ball and started their third quarterback of the year in Chris Stutzriem who had a turnover free game and tossed one touchdown pass.
As for the Aztecs quarterback Ryan LIndley had another solid game with 311 passing yards, but the running game is what has hurt the Aztecs all year long. San Diego State has been one dimensional all year and that is why they have only one win on the year.
Not more to say on this game but that San Diego State has an albatross around its neck with Chuck Long most likely staying as the head man for two more years because the school does not have the alumni support to buy out his contract.
BYU did it again by outgunning an inferior opponent in Colorado State, on Saturday. Max Hall and the offense were dominant and the quarterback tossed 5 touchdowns and threw for 389 yards in the air.
The other two on offense who performed were wide out Max Hall who had 156 yards and three touchdowns and then tight end Dennis Pitta 175 yards and two scores.
While the offense did well the defense was not so impressive again. Colorado State had another well rounded game by quarterback Billy Farris and running back Gattrell Johnson III.
Farris had a great game in 251 yards on the year and three touchdowns and then Johnson had one score as well.
The BYU secondary is the real deficiency on their defense. The play that could have killed the Cougars was after the only pick Max Hall threw which lead for the very next play was a 55 yard touchdown pass that gave the Rams a 42-38 lead with 1:44 left in the game, but the Cougars came back to win.
This BYU secondary allowed four Rams recievers to average over 10 yards per catch, which shows that the BYU defensive backs can not cover well and if one watched the game the BYU secondary was playing 10 yards off of line of scrimmage. Not sure if this BYU team is the 15th ranked team in the nation, their offense is but the defense is no where near that.

TCU did not show any hicup before their big showdown in Salt Lake, by crushing UNLV by 30 points. TCU is looking very strong and is on track to win their second MWC title in 4 four years.
TCU who was just known for their defense now has an offense to match, and in this game they outgainted UNLV nearly 4 to 1. The Horned Frogs gained 410 to 175 and had a very balanced offensive attack, by involving multiple backs and recievers to spread the offense around.
UNLV’s Omar Clayton left in the third quarter with a left knee injury and is uncertain for their next matchup against New Mexico.
Andy Dalton, the TCU quarterbacl, had another great game by throwing three touchdowns, passed for 151 yards, and also contributed in the rushing game with 52 yards.
Unlike TCU the Utes were sloppy and inconsistent in this 13-10 win, and their loan touchdown came on a hook and latter play for their only touchdown.
Utah’s kicker Louie Sakoda kicked two field goals and too go along with his punting duties keyed Utah to their second 9-0 start in school history, with their last being in 2004.
Quarterback Brian Johnson was given the opportunity to throw the deep ball and many times the pass was over thrown too many times.
The opportunity was good to see, but Johnson was off too many times which may make offensive coordinator think twice about going deep too many times in upcoming games.
The running game was balanced with Matt Asiata, Darrell Mack, and quarterback Brian Johson all combinded for 175 yards. Looking back at the stats the Utes were decent in their statistics, while Brian Johnson passed for only 195 yards but he was 22-32. The 5-13 on third downs is what hurt the Utes when they were driving the ball.
