Spring Recap: TCU Horned Frogs

TCU is looking to take the next step and make their first BCS appearance in school history.

TCU was very close last year by finishing ranked 7th in the country, but was ranked below Utah and passed over a BCS bid for Ohio State.

Even with five players drafted in the 2009 NFL draft the Horned Frogs should be as strong as last year. Starting with the defense and even though TCU lost seven players from the defense they do return All-American candidate Jerry Hughes to lead the way.

The defense at TCU is rarely the issue, but it has been the offense that has held the team back.  TCU did lose running back Aaron Brown, however Joseph Turner who play significant time last year will take over the starting running back position.

Then there is wide receiver Jimmy Young who had nearly 1,000 yards receiving and  is a play maker.  The Horned Frogs have the offensive players to make a BCS run.

TCU does have new offensive coaches in Rusty Burns who was hired as the new wide receivers coach, while Justin Fuente quarterbacks coach and Jarrett Anderson running back coach take over the offensive coordinator duties.

These two coaches will need to make up for the offense that was stagnant at times in big games, but with the talent TCU has coming back the Horned Frogs should be able to produce improved numbers in 2009.
