2008 was a huge stepping stone for UNLV by getting to five wins from the every-so-steady two wins a year since Mike Sanford took over in 2005.
Currently the Rebels have five verbal commits according to Rivals. The best being three star recruit from local Las Vegas, Kenny Mack.

This current class is heavy on defense so far, which has been a problem for the Rebels in recent years.
Their offense is starting to be able to keep up in high scoring games, most notably the BYU loss.
On the Rebels watch list are 43 recruits with half coming from Nevada and California. To continue on their rise UNLV will need to get the best instate players, as well as getting players from southern California.
UNLV is a short flight from southern California and a drive can be anywhere from three to six hours, which is reasonable. This years success will determine the future of head coach Mike Sanford, because if the school can finally get to a bowl game UNLV might be come an attractive place to play college football.
