Week 13 Rankings

This would be the last for these in the conference but since there are games December 1st their will be this weeks rankings and next weeks before the regular season ends.

1. BYU is ranked in #23 in the top 25 this year and are preparing for another undefeated conference title with 2 games left.  A weakness that could hurt the Cougars is their secondary that has multiple injuries.

2. The Utes defense has been playing amazingly well the past 3 weeks by allowing only 13 points and one of those teams was New Mexico that has a potent offense that the Utes held them to 10.  Utes have a chance to take the top spot with a win at LaVell Edwards on Saturday against BYU. More Holy War fun!

Ah! the week creeps closer to the biggest game of the year in the conference, and here is some more fun stats about the game and more audio from the Utes.

Point Differential with Like Opponents –

Opponents       BYU       Utah  Difference     Overall Difference

Air Force          +25               – 8            BYU + 33          (BYU +33)

 UCLA               – 7                +38           Utah + 45          (Utah +12)

 UNLV               + 10              – 27           BYU + 37          (BYU + 25)

 TCU                  + 5                + 7           Utah + 2           (BYU + 23)

 CSU                 + 19             + 24            Utah + 5           (BYU + 18)

 WYO                + 25             + 50            Utah + 25          (Utah + 7)

 NM                   + 7              + 18             Utah + 11          (Utah + 18)

Not sure if this a correct assessment  for either team but the main game that stands out is the Wyoming and UCLA game between the two, because both games were played back to back between Utah and BYU so that is a fair assessment then say comparing the New Mexico game that was played weeks apart between the team.

Here is some more Ute audio I could pull up and this audio comes from former Ute players.

Week 12 Rankings

We were THIS close to have a new number one this week, but BYU pulled out the game.

1.

BYU had a scare against TCU on Thursday, but right now they are hurting from injuries and specifically in the secondary and this could cause trouble in their next few games.

2.

WOW!! The Utes along with BYU have been the hottest teams in the conference and probably in the Non-BCS leagues. The Utes have ran off 6 straight wins and are poised to make their 5th straight bowl appearance and an outside shot of the conference title. Continue reading

Week 6 Rankings

Nothing to much to change on the top two spots but the rest of the league gets a shake down.

1.

The Cougars are on a bye week, and there was no team that did enough to displace them from the top spot.

2.

Wyoming pulled its worth by holding off a sinking TCU at home this past week. The Wyoming rushing game also destroyed TCU by having two players rush for more then 100 yards each.

3.

Another team with a bye week.  New Mexico looks strong to challenge Wyoming for the second spot in conference thus far.     Continue reading
